The fortress of Peter – Tsikhisdziri was based in 535 g by the Greek strategist Ioann. In written sources it also upomyanatsya as “Kadzheti’s Fortress”. Because fortress was inaccessible, it called as well “the bewitched fortress”.
It stood on the high steep rock on the seashore, from sushi it reliably protected not only a stone fencing, but also a rocky relief. Exactly from here the Greek name of fortress of “Pyotr” – the rock, a stone also went.
During excavation the remains of two early and medieval constructions, basilicas and baths making a uniform architectural complex were found. The architecture of a bath is characteristic for the late antique period. Along it traces of rectangular columns in section are noticeable. These are the remains of the portico adjoining a bath.
