Fortress of Birtvisi, is in the middle the Birtvisi’s canyons over a glade, on the high rock in the gorge of the river of Algeti in the territory of Kvemo Kartli. The gorge is in an environment of huge mountains that gives a type of a ditch with cone-shaped mountains.

Fortress is one of sights of Georgia in spite of the fact that it is almost destroyed and there was one tower, a slice of a wall and a collar.

 

It is the most remote fortress, to reach to which not so easily, from East side you have to bypass the rock it is possible on the right or at the left. On the right side the road very difficult, is descent down, and then up through a narrow crack. The road is on the left side rather easier, here the track conducts up, but here easily it is possible to go astray and lose the road. Further the road should climb on dangerous up and the last stage is steps in a wall. On which not everyone can rise.

But despite all difficulties of a way, you receive unforgettable feelings from this fine place.
